What essential oils and other ingredients are used in your products, and what do they do?? 
At Birdsong Farm we use only the highest quality natural ingredients and all of our soaps start with food quality vegetable oils.  Our essential oils are steam distilled - unlike most products containing essential oils - alcohol or other chemical extraction methods are never used.  Our all vegetable formulas leave the skin feeling clean, silky smooth, soothed and moisturized.

Our Ingredients:

• Sweet Almond Oil -
  Extraction Method: Cold pressed
  Excellent emollient!  Known for its ability to soften and recondition the skin.  It is rich in proteins and vitamin D.  Extremely nourishing to the skin, and with regular use it will soothe dry skin and irritated areas.  (Key ingredient in Birdsong Baby Soap)
• Avocado Oil-
  Extraction Method: Cold pressed
  Contains the vitamins A, B1, B2 D, E and Beta Carotene.  Great moisturizer for dry skin! (Birdsong Baby Soap)
• Castor Oil-
  Extraction Method: Cold pressed
  Leaves a protective layer on the skin that will protect against harsh environmental conditions.  Fabulous conditioner for the hair. (Gardener's Hand Soap, Don't Bug Me! Full-body Insect Soap, and Don't Bug Me! Dog Soap)
• Cocoa Butter-
  Natural Moisturizing qualities.  Contains natural antioxidants.  Holds moisture in the skin making it a good skin softener.  (Don't Bug Me! Flea and Tick Soap for Dogs)
• Coconut Oil-
  Extraction Method: Cold pressed
  Creates a protective barrier for the skin and protects against harsh environmental conditions. (A key ingredient in all 7 of the Birdsong Farm Soaps)
• Jojoba Oil-
  Extraction Method: Cold pressed
  Rich in vitamin E that promotes a glowing skin. (Birdsong Baby, Gardener's Hand Soap, Don't Bug Me! Dog Soap)
• Olive Oil (Extra Virgin)-
  Extraction Method: Cold pressed
  Olive oil is a very good mositurizer, not because it has its own healing properties, but because it attracts external moisture, holds the moisture close to the skin and forms a breathable film to prevent loss of internal moisture.  Olive oil does not block the natural functions of the skin while working.  The skin is able to continue sweating and shedding dead skin cells normally. (A key ingredient in our Birdsong Farm Soaps)
• Palm Oil-
  Extraction Method: Cold pressed
  Rich in Palmitic acid, Vitamin E, K and Magnesium.  Considered to be a great natural source of antioxidant.  (A key ingredient in all 7 of the Birdsong Farm Soaps)
• Shea Butter-
  Hailed for its protective and emolient properties.  Excellent natural anti-sun damaging properties.  Skin healing agent for small wounds.  Soothes sunburn, heals and softens dry damaged skin and soothes aching muscles.  (Birdsong Baby Soap, Gardener's Hand Soap and both Don't Bug Me! Soaps)
• Wheat Germ Oil-
  One of the richest sources of vitamin E, A, and D.  Noted forgetting rid of skin irritation including dryness and cracking.  Known for antioxidant properties.  It also improves the circulation of the blood and helps repair skin cells destroyed by heat. (Gardener's Hand Soap and Don't Bug Me! Flea and Tick soap for Dogs)
• Honey-
  Honey lays down a clear protective film that helps skin maintain moisture.  It hydrates and soothes the skin and is thought to be slightly antiseptic and bacteriostatic.  It does all of this without being greasy and even contributes to astringent values. (Honey Country Lavender)

  What is an antioxidant?
  An antioxidant stops oxidation of free radicals which left unchecked can start a chain reaction that damages cells.  Antioxidants terminate these chain reactions!  You'll note that all of our soaps contain palm oil which is know for it's natural antioxidant properties.
